Small melilot flowers taste like snap peas

Helping with weeding a Living Classroom garden today, we pulled up a lot of what Seek tells me is small melilot:

I nabbed a few of the plants we pulled to give eating it a try:

One source said the flowers are edible so I decided to start with them:

I tried a few of the flowers raw (after rinsing them off). It took me a minute to identify the taste — to me, they taste like snap peas! Maybe that makes sense given that they’re in the same family as peas (Faboideae)?

Here’s someone recommending using it as seasoning: Melilot, aka Sweet Clover, aka Melilotus sp.

I’m a little scared of poisoning myself though so I think I’ll stop here this time.
