If we search for [“Noam Shazeer”] on Google Scholar, we get “about 66,000 results.” I’m not sure how much we can trust that count, but anyway, it’s a lot — pages and pages:
Dropping the quotes, searching for [Noam Shazeer], we get “about 43,900 results.” Pretty weird that the result count dropped removing the quotes but still a lot:
What I’m really interested in though is the most recent stuff… but sorting by date, we get nothing!
Huh? (Another bit of weirdness: Even if I start without quotes, when I switch to sorting by date, initially the query is quoted… but still returns no results.)
Bonus: Anurag Acharya is the creator of Google Scholar. Other than the Google Scholar link for Acharya, every other social media link attached to the Knowledge Panel for him is for a different someone else:
I had been hoping I might find a way to ping him to let him know about the issue since I didn’t notice a feedback mechanism within Google Scholar. (I did file feedback about the wrongness in the Knowledge Panel using the handy “Feedback” button.)
I’m a little scared that this indicates that Google Scholar isn’t getting too much love. For some medical research use cases, having working sort by date would’ve been really handy, but it’s still pretty great even in this semi broken state.
